Are Houston Police Corrupt?
In every town, there are those who appreciate the police force as well as those who are not a fan of with the force of police. In every town, there's "good cops" and "bad cops." In Houston there appears to be an increasing consensus that Houston police are nothing more than Houston police are nothing more than a bunch of bullies with badges, doing all they can to intimidate the people of a city that is thriving. There may be individuals who are able to incite the bad intentions of officers. However, a glance at some of Houston's local forums and websites that provide information on police incidents will reveal that Houston police can be a little shaky. The problem doesn't end with police officers. In fact, security personnel in Houston appear to be taking some kind of power-trip. One man who went to the Texas Renaissance Festival with his wife and two children was grabbed by the throat and his arm bent to the back. He was removed forcibly Cop Watch from the event and threatened with prison time after asking a security guard which restroom was available. The question was posed near closing time and the man could not be allowed to notify his family members to the location the restroom was located. In one instance in one incident, a police officer killed and wounded a 15-year-old boy as a result of a mistaking identity. The victim was given six months for the time served. In Bellaire two young men were wounded (one suffered a chest injury) when a police officer put them on the ground and then accused of operating the vehicle they stole. The men were unarmed and the officer did not declare himself an official of the law. Instead, he simply attacked the men and ordered them to fall and then shoved his mother who had one them against the wall as she walked out to observe the scene. In October 2008, five officers were offered a plea bargain after being found guilty of accepting bribes in order to cover up illegal activity in various Houston cantinas. The officers advised the owners of cantinas they had to pay to keep from being arrested . They were permitted to plead to fines and a minimum sentence. One police officer made an unidentified woman to have sex with him following his arrest of the woman for shoplifting. She was able to plead to a misdemeanor of manipulating a record of the government. How do you feel about all this? What do the police officers in your neighborhood of Houston? Are you having any unfortunate encounters with them or do the police officers in your area friendly and respectable? Sure, there are many police officers who excel at their job and give a great services in the areas they are serving. How have you found your local law enforcement like? Do you feel secure or are you as scared of the police force within your community as you are of criminals who might be running around?
